Typography Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and appealing when displayed. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces, point size, line length, line-spacing, letter-spacing and adjusting the space within letters pairs.

Jasper Johns

Jasper Johns was born in 1930 in Augusta, Georgia, and raised in South Carolina. He began drawing as a young child, and from the age of five knew he wanted to be an artist. For three semesters he attended the University of South Carolina at Columbia, where his art teachers urged him to move to New York, which he did in late 1948. There he saw numerous exhibitions. After serving two years in the army during the Korean War, he returned to New York in 1953. Together with several Abstract Expressionist painters, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Barnett Newman, Johns becomes one of most significant and influential American painters of the twentieth century.

Pablo Lehmann

Pablo Lehmann who lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is an Argentinean artist who creates a unique body of work from cutting and layering paper. Lehmann cuts text and abstract shapes from sheets of paper. Then he stacks multiple layers of cut, torn, and rolled paper/fabric to create 3-dimensional effects. The highly intricate nature of his paper cut-outs and the effect of layering the multiple sheets of paper one upon another result in some stunning pieces.

PABLO LEHMANN Pablo Lehmann was born in 1974 and currently lives and works in Buenos Aires. He has been the subject of solo and group exhibitions internationally including in Miami, Chile, Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires, and Casa Ensamble in Bogota. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including Gran Premio del Salon Nacional and Salon Nacional del bicentenario. Lehmann extracts excerpts of text from books and synthetic cloth to create intricate and delicate three dimensional works. Experimenting with geometry and space, Lehmann's objects, sculptures, and wall installations bring the power of language to life through a transcendence of time and space.
