Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act (PSQIA) The PSQI Act is a federal law, effective July, 2005 with final regulations published November, 2008 Provides for establishment of Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs), which are private or public entities that are federally listed by the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Why We Participate in a PSO Share information with the Center for Safety PSO so others across the state and nation can learn from each other Take advantage of the legal protection and confidentiality which allows us to learn from our near misses, events and unsafe conditions
