Student Employment Programs There are currently several types of Student Employment options available to our students Federal Work Study/ UML Student Employment Job Location and Development (JLD) Departmental On Campus Student Employment Co-Op Scholars Each type of employment has varying eligibility criteria and applications
Federal Work Study/UML Student Employment What is FWS and UML Student Employment? UML Student Employment is Institutionally funded Federal Work Study is Federally funded Provides part time on campus employment to students with need Allows students to earn money to pay for educational expenses The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study Administered by the Financial Aid Office Eligibility Requirements and how to apply? Students must complete a FAFSA by March 1st Meet the general eligibility requirements (Ref: FA_02_General_Eligibility Indicate on FAFSA (question 31) that you are interested in work Demonstrate financial need Priority given to full time students Students log on to JobHawk to apply for jobs (www.uml.edu/jobhawk) Awards based on availability of funds
Job Location and Development (JLD) What is the JLD Program? A resource for students seeking employment off campus JLD receives employment postings from local businesses that are looking to hire our talented students Students do not have to be awarded UMass Lowell Student Employment or Federal Work Study to apply Non-university affiliated employment opportunities How to apply? Log into JobHawk (www.uml.edu/jobhawk) Search for jobs Apply through JobHawk to receive contact information for individual company Submit resume to off-campus employer directly
Departmental Student Employment What are Departmental Student Employment? Positions for students funded by university departments Any enrolled student is eligible to apply How to apply? Log into JobHawk (www.uml.edu/jobhawk) Search for Departmental Student Employment jobs Apply through JobHawk
CO-OP Scholars What are CO-OP Scholars and who is Eligible? Learning experiences that extend a student’s education well beyond the classroom Incoming freshmen who qualify for Dean’s scholarships or higher and who fulfill the GPA requirements during their first year are eligible to receive a paid co-op opportunity These positions may be held during the fall and spring of their sophomore year How to apply? There is no application for this type of employment.
