Do you need any special abilities for the job Yes, some of the skills are reasoning, observation, problem solving, grammar skills, proper spelling, accurate punctuation, fearlessness, and communication. Author also need to be creative, patient, and able to research. Strong computer skills are also recommended. 1 2 1 Being able to see what is going on in the world around you. 2 Being able to receive and use criticism to help you grow as an author.

What education or training is needed? According to the BLS a professional writer usually needs a college degree. Some employers like their employees to have a bachelor degree in the Arts of English, Journalism, or Communications. She ended up living off of welfare and working on the first Harry Potter book. She was dirt poor and jobless. Rowling actually thought of the three main characters (Hermione, Harry, and Ron) while waiting for a delayed train. Joanne had the “K.” added to her name because an obviously female author might deter the demographic of young boys. How do you feel about what you’ve learned? I think that I will definitely write in the future, however it will probably be more of a hobby than a job. I really enjoy writing but it doesn’t seem stable enough to be my career.
