A133 IPSWICH ROAD SCHEME COMMUNICATION UPDATE (22.04.2019)

Noteworthy Information Harwich Road South remains closed until 05.05.19. This is the new date the traffic order was extended to. Anglian Water have found the leak and have made the necessary repairs. They are now currently in negotiations over the reinstatement of the carriageway. We are looking to begin construction on various parts of the scheme as early as 07.05.19. This phased construction will see full traffic management in place around the works area to enable the contractor to fully carry out the demolishing and reinstatement of new footpaths and kerbs. The Traffic management will be in place for the duration of that phase.

Traffic management for week commencing 22.04.19 The footpath around Waitrose from Ipswich Road North to St Andrews Avenue remains open. We are trenching across Ipswich Road North for the UKPN/BT works and currently have lane 1 northbound closed. We will be completing these crossings in 3 phases via various lane closures to trench across the road with these utilities. Cowdray Avenue has a lane 1 closure in place up to the Ipswich Road roundabout to allow for the UKPN/BT crossings to be carried out safely across the mouth of the junction of Ipswich Road North. This will also allow for us to carry out the UKPN diversion across Cowdray Avenue and will involve various lane closure changes. There is still a lane 1 closure in place from the Harwich road compound to the Ipswich Road roundabout. This is to keep traffic reduced to 1 lane from all approaches for safety reasons whilst works are taking place. The footpath around the Harwich Road compound Is open and we have the temporary pedestrian controlled crossing in place on St Andrews Avenue. We have pushed out the walkway to allow the space for pedestrians to navigate this area safely. The footpath around the north east corner of Harwich Road is half open to allow pedestrians and cyclists to pass by the works that have already taken place.

Traffic management for week commencing 22.04.19 Lane 1 is taken out on the approach to the Harwich Road roundabout along St Andrews Avenue for the gas pipe diversions & other works. The footpath along St Andrews Avenue from St David’s Close to the Harwich Road roundabout is closed. The public have been safely diverted and this is to accommodate the Cadent Gas works. We have footpath closure signage detailing routes around the specific closure points around site. St Andrews Gardens has a temporary island of water filled barrier as we have removed the physical island itself. The footpath on St Andrews Avenue heading west from the zebra crossing is closed to allow for UKPN trenching and ducting. A suitable diversion is in place. Other various footpath closures will be in place where necessary and a fully signed diversion will be in place. Harwich Road South remains closed. A suitable diversion is in place.

Works Completed 15.04.19 – 21.04.19. UKPN/BT trenches and ducting are ongoing. We have completed the ducting across lanes 1 & 2 and we are currently in Lane 3 and are making progress with this. We have trenched and laid duct for UKPN along St Andrews Avenue from Harwich Road in a westerly direction towards the junction box. This is almost complete at this section. We have been trenching and laying duct for UKPN as well as excavating existing house services for Cadent on the St Andrews Avenue towards Harwich Road roundabout. This is ongoing. All of the excavations not needed in this area have been backfilled and made safe for the Easter break. We have visited various locations around site to reinstate and make good areas of footpath that were falling below standard. These areas have been made good. We have trenched and laid ducting across 3 lanes on St Andrews Avenue from the junction box across to our compound. This took 3 days to complete. Cadent/Triio Works in this area ceased due to the Anglian water emergency works. Some local house connections have been renewed & made. BT/TLU Manhole 6, the 2 smaller manholes outside Waitrose on St Andrews Avenue in the footpath and the ST Andrews Gardens crossings are all complete. ANGLIAN WATER Anglian Water have found and repaired the leak. They are now currently in negotiations over the reinstatement of the carriageway

Works Programmed for Week Commencing 22.04.19 The laying of ducting for UKPN/BT across Ipswich Road North and into the footpath are ongoing. This has involved alterations to the Ipswich Road roundabouts size and location to allow for these works. We have completed the crossings in Lanes 1 & 2 and have moved into lane 3. We are hoping to have completed and reinstated this crossing by the end of the week. The gas diversions are currently on hold in Harwich Road South. The Excavations for connections on Harwich road North in lane 1 and St Andrews Avenue West will be backfilled when we can complete these diversions. We have commenced with the connections to residences along this route. We will continue with these diversions when the emergency Anglian Water works have been completed. We are working on the UKPN trenching and ducting installation in the footpath from Harwich Road North around to St Andrews Avenue heading west up to the connection box where the pedestrian controlled lights are situated. This will form part of the new route for the UKPN. We will be looking to trench and duct across Cowdray Avenue for UKPN in 2-3 phases. This will run into next week.

Works Programmed for Week Commencing 22.04.19 We will be commencing with the UKPN trenching and laying of duct across Harwich Road North and into the south western footpath around to the compound. We will be looking to lay gas sleeves in the open Anglian water excavation and prepare saw cut lines in and around the area of Harwich Road South for the rest of the gas utility diversions.
