ANSWERS The British fought the French in North America Called the French and Indian War because the war was between Britain and France (Indians tried to help France win) Treaty of Paris ended war triumphantly for the British, who kept Canada, the Great Lakes country, the Ohio River Valley, and Florida. They had driven the French out of North America.
