Record the following information in your iBook on page ______ Fast Facts :Reforming (changing) the Roman Empire 1.Invasions, Political & Economic issues caused the Empire to decline 2.Three Roman Emperors attempted to rebuild & manage the Empire: *Diocletian (A.D. 284)- Split the Empire in two parts. He ruled the east, while his colleague, Maximian, ruled the west. Each was responsible to protect their part. *Diocletian (A.D. 293) then picks two Caesars to rule additional Roman territory. *After Diocletian dies in A.D. 302, Rome breaks out in civil wars as the two Caesars fight for power * Constantine (A.D. 312) takes power and splits the Empire in two halves. He will rule the East and move the capital to Constantinople. *Theodosius (A.D.379) becomes emperor and officially splits the Empire into western and eastern parts when he dies. His sons inherit the Empire.
