Lesson Objectives By the end of the lesson you will: Be able to explain how your iGCSE will be structured. Be able to set up a suitable folder structure in your user area and Outlook.

Your iGCSE You will be taking the CIE iGCSE. Consists of 3 exams. An internationally recognised qualification. Consists of 3 exams. 40% Paper 1 = Written Theory Exam (2 hours) 30% Paper 2 = Practical Skills Exam 1 (2 ½ hours) 30% Paper 3 = Practical Skills Exam 2 (2 ½ hours) All 3 exams will be taken at the end of Year 11

Exam 1 Theory You will do 1 lesson per fortnight on this. Yes that means you have to write things down! You will do 1 lesson per fortnight on this. You will learn all sorts! Computer Systems Hardware/Software Storage Networks Use of ICT.

Exam 2 and 3 You will sit this exam in a computer room and be given instructions to follow. You will have to be experts in the following: Word-processing Spreadsheets Databases Internet Searching Email Desktop Publishing Web development.

Task 1 – First Impressions Spend 10 minutes looking at the 3 example exams (available on the VLE) In your books under the sub-heading ‘My first impressions’ answer the following: What do you think you will struggle with? Task 2 – Create Folders Open an email message, store email messages using a suitable planned structure, save attached file(s), store files using an appropriate planned structure. Its time to get organised. Set up the following folders in both your user area and Outlook: Move the email from your teacher into the practical skills folder. Save the attachment into your practical skills folder (user area). ICT iGCSE Theory Practical Skills Assessment RESOURCEFULNESS - Not sure how? - How and where could you find out?

Task 3 – Create a Poster What exam board is it? Which exams do you take in the iGCSE? What do you learn? Practical skills Theory Mention what the ‘i’ stands for in iGCSE. Use appropriate images. Make up some quotes from pupils.
