The Life of Christ – Lesson 8 PREACHING IN GALILEE – RAISING A WIDOWS SON - JOHN’S INQUIRY - DINNER WITH A PHARISEE - LUKE 7; MATTHEW 11 APRIL 3, 2019

Gospel of Luke Unique characteristics: Focus on the human condition of sin – frequent use of the word “sinners.” More frequent mentioning of women, children and the poor and oppressed. (14:7-14; 16:13-31; 18:18-22; 21:1-4) Focus on prayer and rejoicing. (6:12; 9:28; 18:1-8; 22:44) Stressed the role of the Holy Spirit (1:35; 41, 67; 2:25; 3:16; 4:1)

Jesus’ feet anointed Luke 7:36-50 “Then He said to her, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace.’” What was the desired outcome of her faith? Did she “show (her) faith by (her) works”? (James 2:18) (Compare to the Centurion in vs. 2-10 and the 10 lepers in Luke 17:10) Perfect passive tense - “have been and thus stand forgiven”
