Tour of the Basics example answer to #21 When parents with heterozygous alleles for hitchhikers thumb have children they may inherit recessive alleles. The H is dominant for straight thumb, and the h is recessive for hitchhikers thumb. If the child inherits homozygous alleles for hitchhikers thumb, they will have hitchhikers thumb because the dominant allele is not covering up the recessive one.
