ROYAL HOMES OF GREAT BRITAIN

DESCRIPTION There are currently four residences used by the reigning sovereign, two of which belong to the people of Britain and two of which are the personal property of the monarch. Buckingham Palace Windsor Castle Sandringham House Balmoral Castle

Buckingham Palace Belonging to British people, official home in London of royal family. Residence of royal family since Queen Victoria in 1837.

Buckingham Palace Built in 1703, enlarged in 1825 & 1913.                                                                                                                                                             Built in 1703, enlarged in 1825 & 1913. Royal standard flies when sovereign in residence.

Also belonging to nation, 22 miles west of London, weekend & summer home of royals for 900+ years. When sovereign here, royal flag flies from Round Tower. Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle                                                                                                                                                             Includes St. George’s Chapel (royal burial place) & Albert Memorial Chapel, dedicated to husband of Queen Victoria. Surrounding castle, Home Park, including Frogmore House & Mausoleum (burial site of Queen Victoria & Prince Albert & other royals), & Windsor Great Park, home to a stock of red deer.

Scottish Highland Games celebrated in Braemar on first Saturday in September, attended by 20,000 people & royal family, all dressed in traditional Scottish attire
