Factor #3 Continental deflection If the Earth’s surface was all water, the currents could travel more freely and in a more uniformed pattern. The continents DEFLECT the currents.

Directions You need three colors: Red (hot), Blue (cold), Third color (salt) The beaker of liquid will represent the ocean. Draw the surface line really close to the top of each beaker. Particles are small, colorable circles. When you draw the particles, think about…DENSITY (amount of particles in a given space) and RISING and SINKING. -Where does warm water rise to? - Where does cold water sink to? - Which temperature is the most dense? - Which temperature is the least dense? 6.
