Single Point of Commissioning – ASC Brokerage

SPOC BROKERAGE- WHO ARE WE AND HISTORY ASC Brokerage via the Single Point of Commissioning Team (SPOC) was created in 2015 A 6 month project began in January 2018 with the aim to successfully expand the service Asia West – Broker Paul Brown – Team Leader Phillipa Rock - Broker ASC Brokerages main role is to source social care packages for individuals who were on managed accounts personal budgets i.e. home care agencies, residential homes etc. From 2nd July 2018 ASC Brokerage started to receive SPOC referrals to identify and source services historically not sourced by the team, i.e. Personal Assistants. Asia and I will be working on Direct Payment SPOC referrals to source the PA support that is needed for the individual.

SPOC BROKERAGE – THE FUTURE…….. To offer an improved service to Self funders. To improve communication between ourselves and PA’s To develop greater options for the people we serve The broker within the SPOC team will be looking to expand our service by enabling individuals who are self funding to call us for advice, support and guidance. The brokers will ensure that they have an in depth understanding of all the available services whether these are privately funded or community based in order to assist individuals with whichever route they are wanting to take in regards to their care. This will enable people to remain in control and independent as they will have options in which they can explore, which will be suggested to them by the brokers themselves. The brokers as seen in the slide previously have used 26 PA’s. In the future we hope to use a wider range of PA’s both new and existing. We hope to improve the communication with the PA’s such as attending regular meetings to emphasise the importance of PA’s using their phone’s/emails/ the PA noticeboard and facebook page in order to achieve a more streamlined service. We now have the texting service which went live on Friday 23rd, meaning PA’s can get notified with support needed in a variety of areas or general information, without only having the option to phone or email you as we know how busy you are and how difficult accessing your emails and answering your phone sometimes can be. If the PA’s use the above ways of communicating with the brokers, this will be more efficient and will improve the communication between ourselves and you. We appreciate your responses even if they are just an acknowledgment that you cannot provide the care, without this we may continue to call/email or text you  We already try and offer low/zero cost community services but we need to expand our knowledge of this and then pass on potential services to you as PA’s so your clients can decide if they want to take part. This will be things such as coffee mornings so that people can attend/get support with that is free of charge but by using this an example, means an individual can engage with others and in the long run prevent loneliness. We want to ensure as a brokerage team within the council that we are continuously striving to be better, learning new skills and expanding our knowledge along the way and to also ensure that the individuals we serve, receive the support, guidance and advice that they require in order to keep them in good health, as well as independent as they can be. We believe that by using PA’s as an option, we can achieve this.
