Recruiting and retaining members

Because students are what make an organization… So… we need them right Because students are what make an organization… So… we need them right? Lets start with the basics.

What do students need?

What students need… to have fun. to have a sense of belonging to know that the goals are obtainable. to feel that what they are doing has real purpose. to feel that the organization is making a difference. to see that progress is being made. to share in decision making. to know what is expected of them and to be kept informed. to have confidence in the organization leaders. to have fun.

What do students want? GRAPES

Define the kind of member you want to RECRUIT… Consider this… Mission & Purpose Personal Traits Professional Traits

Lets get started… Who’s in charge? Get EVERYONE involved… Use campus events e.g., organization outbreak Social media Collaborate with other organizations

Now you have them… Get their ATTENTION Get them INVOLVED Keep them INFORMED Make them feel WELCOME Most importantly….. KEEP THEM COMING BACK
