Please check behavior logs daily. 5 September 10 - 14, 2018 Reading – Skills Assessment Wed. (Similar to HW this week!) We will read more related books to our Hurricane Unit. Students will read informational texts to learn about hurricanes and their impact on Louisiana. This week we will read a variety of informational texts. Skills: Text Structures, Compare and Contrast informational text, Context Clues/Vocabulary 9/11 - Fundraiser Money due Interims (check grades online) 9/12 - Lockdown Drill PTA Meeting 9:15 BOPS Money due ($3) 9/13 - BOPS (pre-paid) 9/19 - Picture Day 9/28 - Grandparents Bingo 10:30 10/5 - Parish Fair Day – No School 10/11 - End of 1st 9 Weeks 10/12 - No School for students 11/6 - Election Day – No School 11/19-23 – Thanksgiving Holidays Fundraiser deadline was extended to Tuesday, September 11th. Please turn in all money by this date. Some dates are subject to change. Please check newsletter each week for updates. Language – Sentence Structure Assessment Test Thurs. Subjects/Predicates, Independent/Dependent Clauses, and Coordinating Conjunctions Review classwork and pages in the ELA sheet protector. W.O.W – “Words of the Week” Unit 2 Spelling Words only Test Thursday annual basic competition contract dismiss neglect obtain portion recall sponsor stern vacant Math – Fluency Quiz (mult.- 7s & 11s) – Fri; Test – Tuesday Unit 1: Place Value, Rounding, and Algorithms for Addition & Subtraction: Tuesday’s test will be on rounding. In addition, students will take a mid-module assessment covering all skills taught so far. We will then move into adding & subtracting multi-digit whole numbers. Students will be assessed on their ability to fluently add and subtract numbers, as well as their ability to solve multi-step word problems using addition and subtraction. Students will take an addition test on Monday, 9/17. ***Fluency quiz average has been added into our online grading system. This average CAN CHANGE. It will be updated at the end of the 9 weeks grading period. Remember, fluency quizzes are given weekly . Fact sheets are in the math sleeve of the binder. If necessary, changes will be made to table below. Science – Test – Wednesday Unit 1: Weathering & Erosion: Students will continue to explore Earth’s changes this week. We will do several fun, hands-on activities in class using the Mystery Science website. Social Studies - In-class graded assignments this week Unit 1: America the Beautiful & Map Skills Students will continue to work on developing map skills, focusing on the regions of the United States. Students should be able to draw a map of the U.S. and divide it into 5 regions. We will walk students through their first DBQ (Document-Based Questions) Assessment this week.
