The Road Less Traveled Cynthia V. Fukami Daniels College of Business University of Denver PhD Project Dinner August 2, 2003
Two Diverse Journeys My journey as a professor The Daniels College of Business’s journey as an institution
Struggling with Balance Publish or perish doctoral training Little emphasis for my development as a teacher Many models for discovery, few models for teaching scholarship My first teaching experiences
My First Job Traditional publish or perish environment My success in teaching Either-or-mentality about research and teaching Coming “out of the closet” at OBTC Deciding to move on—searching for “balance”
My Second Job Is there an option beyond “research” schools and “teaching” schools? Yes!
