FUTURE REDHAWK ATHLETES AND PARENTS WELCOME FUTURE REDHAWK ATHLETES AND PARENTS

THOUGHTS ON ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION Participation is a privilege Privilege has responsibilities Academic Expectations IHSA Expectations Behavioral Expectations/Code of Conduct Athletic Director and Coach Expectations Be an Athlete !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (It starts now)

GOALS OF PARTICIPATION Develop healthy living habits Develop discipline Develop leadership skills Develop teamwork skills Develop respect for structure Develop respect for rules and responsibility (how do you act when you think know one is watching) Be at Practice every day! (Monday-Saturday) LIFE SKILLS

IS A BY PRODUCT – NOT A GOAL WINNING IS A BY PRODUCT – NOT A GOAL

PHILOSOPHY The athletic program at NCHS is organized to allow for the fullest possible participation for those students willing to make a definite commitment to interscholastic participation and competition. Participating in athletics is viewed by the school as a worthwhile endeavor which enhances the educational process. Participation in athletics is a privilege and, as such, carries certain expectations beyond those found in the normal classroom situation. The important goals of the athletic program are to offer students direction in developing healthful living habits, discipline, leadership, teamwork, citizenship skills and respect for structure, rules, and responsibilities. Every student chosen to be a member of an athletic program will be offered the opportunity to practice, and whenever possible, to participate in contests relative to their demonstrated abilities as judged by the coaching staff.

COMMITMENT CHARACTER WHEN YOU THINK NO ONE IS WATCHING WHAT’S IMPORTANT COMMITMENT CHARACTER WHEN YOU THINK NO ONE IS WATCHING
