THEN Come to the back computer cart and I will give you a laptop. Bellwork: Turn in lab to bin on front table. I only want the second page and make sure your name is on it. THEN Come to the back computer cart and I will give you a laptop. Carry with both hands. Set flat on the table and away from the edge. Log onto computer and pull up Edmodo.com After lab practice

Each student will be assigned a numbered laptop which they are expected to properly handle and maintain. They will use no other computer than the one assigned to them unless the teacher instructs them to do so. The student will be responsible for correctly returning the device to its slot in the cart. Laptops will stay locked in my classroom and may not be taken from the room unless permitted by teacher. Students should not change settings, move shortcuts, download software, or change homepages unless instructed to do so. Student will be patient and listen for teacher instructions before proceeding with the activity.

Off-topic surfing of the Internet is not permitted Off-topic surfing of the Internet is not permitted. Students will follow specific directions from the classroom teacher when the Internet is involved in a project. Any damage to a device may result in fees to the student assigned to the device. If you suspect a computer has a problem report it IMMEDIATELY. Failure to report could result in damages in your name. Any food or drink shall remain on the floor or in bag when the computer is in use.

Students will save their work early and often Students will save their work early and often. Failure to save work is not an acceptable excuse for a missing assignment. Students will have options for saving their work. There will be instances where students are expected to create an account with a website to access a resource in class. Students will be responsible for remembering usernames and passwords. Failure to access an account does not excuse student from the assignment.

Students will not share their log-in or password with other students. Students will stay on tasks at all times. Failure to do so will result in consequences, which may include loss of technology privileges, detention, referral to appropriate principal, parent contact, and could result in removal from the 21st Century Classroom. Students will be upheld to all the standards and requirements listed in the Acceptable Use Policy outlined in the Bentonville High School Handbook.

As I assign you a number: Log onto computer and pull up Edmodo.com

Our Edmodo code is:

If you have not signed up for Remind 101 our code for this class is: When you are done with quiz, put computers up in the correct slot.

Practice Quiz: ONLY PERIODIC TABLE Name the following compounds: CuBr MgS CrCl3 FePO4 LiCN Write the formulas of these compounds: Sodium fluoride Manganese (III) nitrate Magnesium chloride Calcium iodide Aluminum oxide Practice Quiz: ONLY PERIODIC TABLE When done put computer up in the correct slot. Quiz to check ionic 8/29 and 8/30 don’t allow to use polyatomic ions.. Should be wake up call – do together on board..

Naming Molecular Compounds Remember that binary molecular compounds are substances that consist of just two different elements. Nomenclature: 1) Name the first element that appears in the formula. 2) Name the second element that appears in the formula, changing its ending to –ide.

Naming Molecular Compounds Greek prefixes are used to denote the number of atoms of each element present.

The prefix mono- is generally omitted for the first element. Naming Molecular Compounds The prefix mono- is generally omitted for the first element. For ease of pronunciation, we usually eliminate the last letter of a prefix that ends in “o” or “a” when naming an oxide. Example: N2O5 is dinitrogen pentoxide not dinitrogen pentaoxide

OF2 __oxygen difluoride_______________ PCl3 __phosphorus trichloride __________ SO3 ___sulfur trioxide _____________ NI3 __nitrogen triiodide ________________ SiBr2 __silicon dibromide _______________ BrF5 ___bromine pentafluoride _________

disulfur dichloride _____S2Cl2________________________ xenon tetrafluoride ___XeF4_____________________________ phosphorous pentabromide ___PBr5________________________ bromine monofluoride ____BrF____________________________ dinitrogen tetrafluoride ___N2F4__________________________ diboron trioxide ___B2O3_____________________________
