Work Write at least 4 questions Answer the essential question What is work and how is it calculated? Work: Skip 3 lines Write at least 4 questions Work being done No work being done Skip 5 lines Formula: Work units: Force units: Distance: Example: A bowler uses 500N of force to roll a ball 40 m down the bowling alley. How much work was done? Work = Answer the essential question

Work Work: a force and a distance in the same direction. If the object does not move, NO work is done! (Scientifically speaking)

*Students need to draw and label each example in your notes. WORK WORK BEING DONE NO WORK BEING DONE *Students need to draw and label each example in your notes.

Work Calculating Work Formula: Work = Force x Distance Work units = Joules (J) Force units = Newtons (N) Distance units = meters (m)

Work Example: A bowler uses 500N of force to roll a ball 40m down the bowling alley. How much work was done? Work = 500N x 40m Work = 20,000 Joules

EXAMPLES OF WORK Make sure to put this diagram with color on the left side of you notebook next to the Cornell Notes.
