The impact of the war on Britain. K: The impact of the war on aspects of Britain. U: How the war changed Britain fundamentally and had some unforeseen consequences. S: Group research work and presentation skills.

Outcomes All can describe the changes that happened during the period of the war in the topic area given. E-D Most can explain some of the changes and categorise them effectively. C Some can judge how far their topic was affected by the war and what the topic tells them about the nature of Britain at the time. B-A

Your task is to work in a group to research one of the following areas: The impact of the war on women. (Start with the Suffrage campaign from before the war). The impact of the war on Ireland. (Start with the Home Rule Crisis from 1912 and include the Easter Rising). The impact of the war on the political parties. Your group must prepare a presentation (5-10 minutes) and a sheet of notes (one side of A4 - typed).

Your presentation: Relevant detail that you have found. Divided into sections (not just one long narrative). Explanation of impact. Prioritisation of impacts. Judgement of the extent of the impact of war.
