Introduction to Ecosystems

Biotic Factor A factor in an ecosystem that is living (or created by living things). Ex. Plants, animals, dead leaves, seeds, etc.

Abiotic Factor A factor in an ecosystem that is non-living Ex. Light, air, water, dirt, climate, temperature, etc.

Biosphere An ecosystem is the interrelation between all biotic and abiotic factors in an area. Earth’s many ecosystems together are called the biosphere.
