BEF- British expeditionary force Britain's arrived on the shores of France in October 1914 The term BEF refers only to the forces in battle before the 1st battle of Ypres (22 Nov 1914) Emperor Wilhelm II allegedly dismisses the army and orders that they will “exterminate the treacherous English and walk over the contemptible little army”
