Then model ‘I would like a sandwich’ and ‘I would like a salad’, again with a gesture for ‘I would like’ that will help them remember the meaning. Je voudrais une salade.

Next 3 slides have more activities to practice the food items Next 3 slides have more activities to practice the food items. 1 Slap the board game

Strip Bingo 2 Play a game of strip bingo to reinforce the vocabulary. Pupils can draw the items in whichever order they like. As you call them (i.e. click on each picture) they are allowed to tear off ONLY what is on either end. The winner is the one to get rid of all his/her strip first. You can click on items multiple times as pupils may be able to tear off an item they couldn’t get to, before.

Je suis allé(e) au supermarché et j’ai acheté… 1 2 3 Je suis allé(e) au supermarché et j’ai acheté… un a (m/sg) une a (f/sg) des some (m/f/pl) 3 Memory game I went to the supermarket and I bought… - Click on the speech bubble to hear and practise the starter sentence. Pupils have to create sentences, building on each others’ answers. They need to structure/punctuate them accurately too, with ‘et’ for ‘and’ before the final item each time. Click on numbers 1, 2 and 3 to hear these examples. E.g. Je suis allé(e) au supermarché et j’ai acheté une banane Je suis allé(e) au supermarché et j’ai acheté une banane et un hamburger. Je suis allé(e) au supermarché et j’ai acheté une banane, un hamburger et des frites. The indefinite article table on the slide reminds pupils to pay attention to the gender and number of the nouns they use. Click on each food/drink item to hear the vocabulary again.
