Five Things To Forget Phil 3:13-14

Setbacks We are too prone to brood over our losses - especially financial and material losses. Jesus taught the only loss which should truly concern us is the loss of the soul – Matt 16:24-26 Losing friends, health, job, property, etc. are bad but are minor inconveniences compared to the excellence of gaining Christ – Phil 3:8

Slights We must not dwell on past grievances or injuries – Eph 4:26- 27 Harboring hatred or resentment poisons a person's whole perspective on life There is not much room for anything else in a heart filled with bitterness – Eph 4:31-32

Successes Many good men have been ruined by success Saul of Gibeah was a noble man until he was anointed king of Israel and then his life turned to tragedy – 1 Sam 13:6-14 Let us remember that without the mercy of God we could do nothing, have nothing, be nothing – Rom 12:3

Sorrows We must not allow our sorrows to imprison us in the past – Rom 8:18 As one old preacher used to say, "We must look for life's pearls" – 2 Cor 1:3-7

Sins We must not allow our sins to defeat us – Heb 12:1-2 With God's help, we can put them behind us – Phil 4:13 Sin can be cleansed from our lives - Heb 9:14 The blood of Christ is more powerful than sin – 1 Jn 1:7

God has done His part. Have you done yours? God's Plan of Salvation GOD'S PART The great love of God for man (Jn 3:16) He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Saviour (Lk 19:10) Sent the Holy Spirit as a guide (Jn 16:13) Gave the Gospel as "the power" unto salvation (Rom 1:16) Provided atonement by the blood of Christ (Rom 5:9) MAN'S PART Hear the Gospel (Rom 10:17, Jn 8:32) Believe the Gospel (Heb 11:6, Jn 20:31) Repent of past sins (Lk 13:3, Acts 17:30) Confess faith in Jesus Christ (Rom 10:10, Matt 10:32) Be Baptized (Gal 3:27, Mk 16:16, Acts 2:38) Be faithful unto death (Rev 2:10) God has done His part. Have you done yours?
