What is Global Education? A contribution to the entire curriculum by encouraging exploration of all subjects from a global perspective Broadens horizons of teachers, students, and community at large Enhances our understanding of the world Recognizes differences in our backgrounds and experiences A study of different cultures, countries, and the issues that face them by developing an awareness of the impact our actions have on them The development of skills and attitudes that reflect the diversity of our society and meet workforce needs in today’s global economy

Lakeshore Technical College Global Education Program Global-ready Graduates Global curriculum: inclusion of global issues in curriculum for the purpose of creating global competency and developing a global perspective, regardless of the career path chosen Global Connections: personal experiences through direct interaction with people from other countries; an example would be exchange programs Global Campus: creation of a diverse student and faculty population and a means of integrating diversity into campus life for the purpose of appreciating differences in culture, customs, values and viewpoints; example of Diversity Summit on April 5 Global-ready Graduates: Problem-solvers in diverse environments Communicators across different cultures & languages Self-confident, resourceful workers Adaptable, flexible and appreciative of cultural differences
