Multiple Helix Innovation without Boundaries ENoLL OLLD17 Kraków 30 August 2017 Wim De Kinderen – Eindhoven Living Lab w.dekinderen@brainportdevelopment.nl

INTRODUCING BRAINPORT EINDHOVEN High Tech ecosystem close co-operation Open Innovation accelerating growth Smart Society thriving community world class hotspot What is Brainport? Brainport – high tech growth accelerator Brainport, with Eindhoven at its very heart, is a world-class top technology region. High tech and design are combined with high-end manufacturing industry and entrepreneurship. Cooperation and sharing knowledge are part of our DNA and provide the basis for the characteristic open innovation culture which makes Brainport so intelligent and strong. By quickly anticipating the world-wide changes and continuously forming new connections we create new opportunities for everyone. This attracts talent and companies from all over the world. In a unique business climate we work together in finding solutions for societal challenges with regards to health, mobility, energy, food and safety. Brainport is the high tech growth accelerator of the Dutch economy.   Co-creating the future

City Government Coalition Agreement “Expedition Eindhoven” Eindhoven develops into a ‘smart city’ : “a city making optimal use of the power of technology, ICT (such as open data and fast connections) and design(thinking) in favour of its citizens. A city that is actively opening up as a testing ground for companies and knowledge institutes, with the goals of strengthening welfare, jobs and sustainability”. The coalition agreement mentions as application domains : dealing with energy, traffic flows, public space and a smarter and better organisation of care, education and culture.  From Smart City to Smart Society
