Why The Vision? Not to save him. To learn what to do in the city. Acts 9:6 Still lost after the vision. Acts 9:7-9 Saul saw the vision and heard the voice of Christ to qualify him to be an apostle. Acts 22:14-15; 26:16-18; 1 Corinthians 9:1 We need not expect these in our case!
Saul in Damascus Acts 9:10-19 Saul was saved when he fully obeyed, 9:6 Saul was not saved on the road to Damascus! Repentant believer, 9:9 Praying, 9:11 (cf. 22:16) When baptized, sins were washed away, 9:18; 22:16 “Why are you waiting?” 22:16
Saul’s Conversion Believed that Jesus is the Christ. Acts 9:4-5 Jesus did not speak “Peace” to him. Why? Emphasis on “Must.” Acts 9:6 Repentance – Miserable for three days. Acts 9:9 Preacher sent. Acts 9:10-11 Taught what to do. Acts 22:16 Baptized, his agony passed away. Acts 9:18-19
