Page set-up: the basics Your page must have 1-inch margins Acceptable fonts: Times-New Roman or Arial Size 12 point font
Page set up: Getting started Click Page Layout tab Click on Margins Select Normal (it has the 1” margins on all sides)
Page Setup: Font Click Home tab Select Font Select Size Choose Times New Roman or Arial Select Size Choose 12 point
Page header instructions Click on Insert tab Select Header Select Blank Click on Page number
Header instructions (cont’d) Select Top of Page Choose Plain Number 3 This is aligned right Type your name and add a space Click on Close Header and Footer
Page formatting –line spacing Click on Home tab Click on Line spacing icon Set to 2.0 (your paper is now double-spaced)
Add Name, Teacher, Class, Date Click the Enter key after the date so you can add your paper’s title.
Title From the Home tab Click the Center button to center it on the page Note: the title is not in bold print or underlined
Begin your paper After typing your title, click Enter key Click on Align Left
Typing the body of the paper Click on the tab key Begin typing
New paragraph After concluding a paragraph Click Enter Click Tab, begin typing the next paragraph
Proper format of paragraphs Note the centered title, indented paragraphs and line spacing (double-spaced)
