Q1) Answer the following statements (T) or ( F) : a- A sag error can be eliminated by decreasing the applied tension. b- A steel tape measurement was entered in the field book as being 100.00 m. because the temperature at the time of measurement was 550 F, resulting in the tape shrinking to only 99.99 m. 0.01 m must be added to the recorded distance to have the corrected value. c- A 3.63- percent slope is one that rises 10.08 m in 277.77 m. d- The slope distance between two points is 17.277 m and the slope angle is 1042/. The horizontal distance is 0.512 m.

Q2) Station 2+04. 67 must be marked in the field Q2) Station 2+04.67 must be marked in the field. If the steel tape to be used is only 99.98 m (under standard condition). How far from the existing station mark at 0+79.23.

Q3) You must establish the elevation of point B from point A (elevation 187.298 m). Points A and B are on opposite sides of a 12 – lane highway. With th following results: Set-up at A side of highway Rod reading at A = 0.673 m Rod reading at B = 2.417 m Set-up at B side of highway Rod reading at B = 2.992 m Rod reading at A = 1.252 m a) What is the elevation of point B? b) What is the leveling error?

Q4) A highway baseline was run down a very steep hill as shown in Figure below. Rather than measure horizontally downhill with the steel tape, the surveyor measures the vertical angle with the a theodolite and the slope distance with a 200 m steel tape. The vertical angle is -21o26/ turned to a point on a plumbed range pole that is 4.88 m above the ground. The slope distance from the theodolite to the point on the range pole is 148.61 m. the theodolites optical center is 4.66 m above the upper baseline station at 110+71.25. The elevation of the upper station is 324.28, compute the following: (a) The elevation of the lower station (b) The chainage lower station

324.28

Q5) A closed property traverse has the following data, compute the missing data
