Elements for the pre-scoping document for the marine regions Marine expert group meeting 30-31.10.2014, Brussels Mora Aronsson (SLU-ETC/BD)
In this presentation: Data and methods used Results – aiming to aid the selection of habitats and species
DATA & METHOD USED Art 17 data of 2007-2012 (data from MS) Excluding 1) species listed in Annex V only & 2) species and habitats occurring only in one MS (except for MMAC and MBLS) In total the analysis covers: Atlantic Marine region: 7 habitat types and 33 species Baltic Marine region: 7 habitat types and 4 species Black Sea Marine region: 7 habitat types and 3 species Macaronesian Marine region: 6 habitat types and 35 species Mediterrean Marine region: 8 habitat types and 21 species
How the results were calculated? 1. Criteria for prioritization: Number of MS where species/habitat types are present (criterion A) Species and habitat types at unfavourable/unknown conservation status (criterion B) Negative trend using certain parameters (criterion C) 2. Filtering species and habitat types: - priority index calculated using A*(B + C) for each species and habitat type
