MUSIC AND THEATRE IN BYDGOSZCZ

Bydgoszcz has many music institutions: the Academy of Music, music schools and associations. You can go to concerts of famous orchestras, choirs and artists. Musical life is rooted in the past centuries.

The Pomeranian Philharmonic is in Andrzej Szwalbe Street. We can attend different concerts. The music is so beautiful... The musicians who play here come from all over the world. In the evening, the philharmonic hall is beautifully illuminated. It is is one of the favourite places of the inhabitants of Bydgoszcz , but people from other cities love it too. Inside the building we can find valuable works of art: prints sculuptres paintings

The shape of the building is similar to a three-leaved clover. The Opera Nova is a cultural showcase of Bydgoszcz, the only musical theater in our province. Its origins go back to 1956. The name was given in 1990. The Opera Nova repertoire includes operas, ballets, operettas, musicals and concerts. The shape of the building is similar to a three-leaved clover. In the first and biggest part there are spectacle rooms. In the second part there are rehearsals and storage and in the third there is the Regional Convention Centre.

The Polish Theatre is located not far from the philharmonic hall, in Theatre Square. It was founded in 1820 as the Municipal Theatre. Initially, it was in a restaurant called Pacera. The first theatre building appeared in 1895, but it was demolished during World War II. The new one was constructed in 1949. Every year two important festivals are organized here: the Festival of World Premieres and Camera Obscura.
