BRAINSTORM Do you have any pet peeves?

“I hate it when people smoke in public.” What do you do when people smoke in public? I say: “Could you put out your cigarette?”

Goal #1: Asking people for help Making Requests 의뢰 Asking for Permission 허가 Make a Request Eg: “Could you do me a favor?“ Eg: “Could you help me with my homework?”

Making requests “Would you mind ____ing…?” “Could you…..?” “Can you….?”

Would you mind ______ing? Possible Replies Agreeing: “Of course not!” “Not at all!” Refusing: “Sorry, I can’t.” “Sorry, I’m too hot.” “Would you mind turning down the air conditioning?” “It’s very cold!”
