Fig. 1 The fraction with PF OA after ACL injury in different study subgroups. A major meniscal injury was defined by a tear which required excision or suturing. Only cases with a major meniscal injury are included in the figure. Eight patients had at least one lateral or medial meniscal injury treated with sutures during follow-up. Seven of these knees were also ACL reconstructed, whereof only two knees remained without having any meniscectomy in the same or contralateral compartment during follow-up. None of these two knees had PF OA. Osteoarthritis and Cartilage 2009 17, 284-290DOI: (10.1016/j.joca.2008.07.005) Copyright © 2008 Osteoarthritis Research Society International Terms and Conditions

Fig. 2 The KOOS mean score profile for the ACL injured study sample with PF OA -●- (n=12), without PF OA -■- (n=63) and a random population-based reference group of individuals, 35–54 years -○- (n=158, 51% women)50. No significant difference was detected between knees with or without PF OA in any of the five subscales. The only significant difference between knees with or without PF OA compared with the population-based reference group was in ADL, P=0.02 (knees without PF OA vs reference group).
