DV Wellness & Mental Health 2018-19 Update

Social and emotional learning shall be included at a developmentally appropriate level within the health curriculum in all grades. Elementary School: Mental and Emotional Health, Bullying/Cyberbullying, Decision Making, Tobacco, Alcohol and other Drugs, and Sexuality. Middle School: Bullying/Cyberbullying and Reporting, Self-image, Making Decisions, Coping with Anxiety and Anger, Violence and the Media, Tobacco, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Communication Skills, Social Skills, Assertiveness, Resolving Conflicts, Resisting Peer Pressure, Sexting, and Suicide Prevention. High School: Anger Management, Decision-Making, Assertive Behaviors, Online Safety, Preventing Self-Harm, Over-the-Counter and Prescription Drug Abuse, Illicit and Illegal Drugs, Healthy Relationships, and Opioid Awareness.

2. A physical and social environment that encourages self-care, acceptance and kindness shall be maintained. 3. Access to trained staff shall be available to students in need of guidance and/or social emotional support. Counseling Department Elementary School level includes 4 School Counselors. Middle School level includes 3 School Counselors of which 2 are Licensed Professional Counselors, and 1 Licensed Social Worker. High School level includes 7 School Counselors and 1 Licensed Social Worker. Special Education Department 3 Emotional Support Classrooms 4 School Psychologist Special Ed Supervisor / BCBA Additional Support 9 School Nurses Educational Consultant Contracted Social Worker

4. A continuum of counseling groups to address mental health, social and emotional well-being, positive relationships and responsible decision-making shall be available in all schools.
