Gan Admission September 2017 Admission process Complete internal application form – see website Complete SIF – see website When by? Friday 16 December 2016 How many places?

Gan Admissions How are places allocated? When will you hear? Siblings of those in the main school (Hachana up) New families who have completed the SIF and obtained a CRP In the event of oversubscription then a lottery will be drawn from category (4) – those who completed the SIF and awarded a CRP When will you hear? Usually follow the timetable set by NAJOS

Gan Admissions Remember: A place in Gan will NOT guarantee entry into the main school.

IJDS Admission to Hachana

Applying for a place in Hachana We admit 28 children into Hachana. In the event of oversubscription children will be prioritised in the following way: Jewish ‘looked after children’ or previously ‘looked after children’ (within the meaning of section 22 of the Children Act 1989[1]) who have received a Certificate of Religious Practice from the IJDS. Children who have a sibling at the IJDS either at the time of making the application for entry to Reception or at the intended start date.  Children of staff at the IJDS who have received a Certificate of Religious Practice from the IJDS and fall within paragraph 1.39(b) of the Schools Admission Code, December 2014.[2] Children whose families have received a Certificate of Religious Practice from the IJDS. Children of practicing Jews who have not received a Certificate of Religious Practise from the IJDS but have provided a letter from their local Orthodox Rabbi confirming that they attend Shabbat morning synagogue religious services at least 30 times a year (not including the Shalosh Regalim and Yamim Noraim).  ‘Looked after children’ or ‘previously looked after children’ of other faiths or no faith[3]. Children of other faiths or no faith.

Hachana Once sibling places have been allocated if there are still places remaining the procedure will be as follows: the other applications will be divided into those who have completed the SIF and obtained a CRP and those who haven’t. Within these two categories the applicants will be further divided into Area A and Area B (according to the distance criteria on our website). A lottery will be drawn dividing those into Areas A and B.

Oversubscription to Hachana In the event of there being insufficient places for all applicants within any of the above oversubscription criteria places will be allocated as follows: 1. 60% of the remaining available places will be assigned by lottery to those children whose home address given on the Common Application Form is within a one mile radius of the school; and 2. 40% of the remaining available places will be assigned by lottery to those children whose home address given on the Common Application Form is within the Catchment Area (set out below) but did not obtain a place within (1) above. The 60%/40% split will be made rounding up or down to the nearest full number. Area B is set out in full on the IJDS website

The names of those families will then be given to Barnet and the central admissions process discussed below will then decide whether those families will be allocated places at the IJDS depending on the ranking those families have given on their e-admissions application.

How do I apply? Where do I apply? apply online at www.eadmissions.org.uk

How do I apply? How many schools can I apply for? you can apply for up to six schools you will rank the schools in your order of preference it is important to think carefully about the order as you will not be able to change it after the closing date Can I apply to schools outside Barnet? yes, you must include all your chosen schools, whether inside or outside the borough where you live

How do I apply? Do I need to fill in any other forms? As an academy we ask you to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) if you wish to gain priority in the oversubscription criteria. The SIF must be returned to the IJDS BEFORE the closing date for applications Will look at this in further detail below What else do I need to provide? Proof of address A copy of your child’s birth certificate

How do I apply? Do I need to fill in any other forms? The IJDS asks you to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and an internal application form in addition to the e-admissions application. Both these forms are on our school website. The school must receive the SIF and application form before the e-admissions process closes. The questions on the SIF enable both you and us to ascertain whether you have the right religious ethos for the school.

When is the closing date? How do I apply? When is the closing date? 15 January 2017 the online system will close at 12 midnight on 15 January This is also the closing date for sending the IJDS your completed SIF and internal application form.

What happens next? Co-ordinated admissions the admissions process is co-ordinated by all 33 London boroughs application lists are exchanged offer lists are drawn up offer lists are exchanged

How will places be allocated? What happens next? How will places be allocated? if the school is over-subscribed, the admissions criteria will be applied to decide who can be offered a place each application is considered as if it is equally preferred your ranking order is not passed to the individual schools

What happens if I miss the closing date? your application will not be included in the first round of offers last year some siblings did not get a place because their applications were late some late applications may be treated as on- time if there is a good reason (for example illness or a change of address) provided the application is submitted before 9 February

Offers Will I be offered more than one school place? if your child can be offered more than one school, you will be offered the highest rank possible the lower preferences will be withdrawn and offered to other children no child will be offered more than one school

Offers When will I hear? National Offer Day is 18 April 2017 online applicants can log in and see the result in the evening of 18 April places must be accepted by 2 May 2017 You accept using the on-line system

No Offer? What happens if I don’t get any of my preference schools? your child will be allocated a place at the nearest school with a vacancy Tell Barnet you wish to remain on the waiting lists of your preferred schools appeal for a place – details will be on our website and in your rejection letter

Offers Are there enough school places available? there has been a huge increase in demand for Reception class places extra classes are being added every year Barnet will provide every child a school place it may not always be possible to offer a preference school How can I maximise my chance of getting a Jewish school for my child?
