S 11.19.15 CURRENT EVENTS ON THIS DAY: 1794 - The U.S. and Britain signed the Jay Treaty, which resolved the issues left over from the Revolutionary War. 1863 - U.S. President Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address as he dedicated a national cemetery at the site of the Civil War battlefield in Pennsylvania. 1919 - The U.S. Senate rejected the Treaty of Versailles with a vote of 55 in favor to 39 against. 1969 - Apollo 12 astronauts Charles Conrad and Alan Bean made man's second landing on the moon. 1985 - U.S. President Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev met for the first time as they began their summit in Geneva. 1998 - The impeachment inquiry of U.S. President Clinton began. AGENDA: WATCH, TAKE NOTES & DISCUSS NATIONAL NEWS. DEBATE RULES All groups will debate three times. First round debates Friday. Second round debates Monday. Final debates NEXT Tuesday. Each group will have 1 minute for debate & 30 seconds for rebuttal. No interruptions from opposing team during debate. Opposing debaters must remain silent & seated. No inaccurate information. All facts must be cited (where did you get the information from) Each group member must debate or aid in a debate at least once. Audience must write a 1-2 sentence summary for each debate explaining why they voted for a particular team. Points will be given to each team based on team finish 1-8. Each team will then decide how they want the points divided. 1st place = 8 pts. Per person 8th place = 1 pt. per person
