What objects could help tell your story? Let’s tell a story…. Artmaking is the production of new thought about self and the world. Materiality is part of the conceptual process of artmaking. Poetic theater: Find objects that tell part of your story. Make or find a shadow box to assemble objects. How do you describe your assemblage? (artist statement) https://sites.google.com/a/msad51.org/wes-franklin/assemblage-portraits “How do we ‘play’ with materials the way other artists do?”

G5 Unit 1 CM – Playing with Words ART G5 Unit 1 CM – Playing with Words Art Elements : Color Texture Shape Space Line Form Value Art Principles : Balance Variety Proportion Movement Emphasis Rhythm Harmony Big Idea - Legacy Progress photos Week 4 (11/30) – Reflection of purpose of assemblage and checking in with original ideas. During this week's work on creating an assemblage the students reflected on what their initial purpose was at the beginning, have they changed their minds since then and why, and are the accomplishing what they want to enable their story to be told. We meet one day every other week, so remembering where they are in the prosses is difficult without a reflection piece. The students have gathered the items they intend to use in their assemblages and are moving on to how they want the viewer to interact with the piece… Is there a cover/door or is it open Are their holes to peer into Is lighting needed to assist the viewer Are there movable pieces Does the outside of the container need to be addressed for craftsmanship purposes Students are at different stages of completion. They have the option to take them home to work on them or just work in class. Additional time is allowed for this project because it is a class project that depends on all student's completion and participation. They are excited to see the book come together.
