About Us… Mission Statement: Located approximately 1 ½ hour from Kansas City, 2 hours from Omaha, NE, 2 hours from Des Moines, IA Approximately 7,000 students State-assisted, regional four-year university Top majors in terms of enrollment: Education Business Agriculture Textbooks and laptop included with tuition Blended decentralized and centralized advising structure currently Advisement Office –assists deciding students, freshman biology, business, and psychology students Missouri is a performance-funding state Mission Statement: Northwest Missouri State University focuses on student success – every student, every day

Introductions and History of Project 10+ years worth of data Recent changes to our first year seminar course where instructors were no longer academic advisors for students in their section Project provided the opportunity to collect data from previous seminar course/advising model and compare to the new model Felt there was a strong connection between first year seminar grade and its impact on persistence, graduation, etc. Provided opportunity to look at first term GPA and graduation
