Avid core strategies Higher Level Thinking- Questioning, Inquiry Collaborative Structures-affords students the opportunity to work with peers in various group configurations as they engage subject matter across content areas Collaborative Study Groups-Tutorials WICOR strategies. These skills include inquiry, note-taking, organization, collaboration, communication, and numerous other skills necessary for college readiness. Organizing Materials-Binders Philosophical Chairs-Engage students to think more deeply about a topic. Relational Capacity- Create a safe environment and build trust Socratic Seminars- Collaborative discussion

What to expect this year At least 1 advanced class Binders-Binder Check every Friday Agendas-Signed every week Tutorials-Once Tutorials start (2x a week)- students will have to complete TRF’s (Tutorial Request Form) for homework the night before Maintain a 2.0- D’s and F’s are NOT an option Weekly to Bi-Weekly E-blasts (make sure I have your email!) Volunteer Hours- 5 hours are needed every quarter College Field Trips, Guest Speakers, College Project
Expectations Good Attendance Daily Appropriate Behavior in School (Includes: All areas of school)- You should be looked as a role model to others Grades- Maintain a 2.0 or better Probation- You will be on probation for not meeting expectations Openness- Open up to new adventures both in and out of the classroom
