Jesus wants us to lay down our rights we don’t make the notion of ‘fairness’ a priority as His disciples reciprocation the Law’s intent was actually to bring justice instead of revenge Jesus presents a different kingdom culture doesn’t preclude defending family / country

Romans 12:17-21 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

Romans 12:17-21 20 On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

You take care of the faith department, I’ll handle the works department.” Not so fast. You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove.

kingdom life is lived different! it just is. how could I go the extra mile? consistently? what debt can I cancel? who do I need to forgive?
