2019-22 Proposal Writing Webinar Activities and Forums 2019-22 Proposal Writing Webinar December 2018 SCWI / IJECT

School-College-Work Initiative Since its inception in 1997, the SCWI has contributed to the goal of increasing the number of students who graduate from secondary school and providing a seamless transition from secondary school to postsecondary education by supporting collaborative activities and programs. 2019-22 CODE Memo, p.1 SCWI / IJECT

29/04/2019 SCWI Is the initiative actually what we say it is and what it’s funded to be? How can we minimize the risks involved in not delivering what the programs are intended to deliver? Government working on their priorities based on stakeholder feedback

Responding to Government Priorities This Request for Proposals (RFP) is much the same as the RFP for the current year. If the government identifies new priorities and there are changes to the SCWI, then Regional Planning Teams will be provided the opportunity to respond through a separate RFP to any new priorities. Please forward this memorandum to the appropriate staff in your organization. 2019-22 CODE Memo, p.1 SCWI / IJECT

Continuous Program Improvement 29/04/2019 Continuous Program Improvement Review of feedback and data (student and financial) Three areas of concern: Improved Access for Eligible Students Program Fidelity Financial Responsibility Request for Proposals for 2019-22 and areas of focus for 2018-19 to address concerns

2019-20 Activity and Forum Priorities 29/04/2019 2019-20 Activity and Forum Priorities One day, hands-on college experiences for grades 7-12 students, Activities that promote mentoring for Grade 7 and 8 students by a college student or apprentice Enhanced parent/guardian forums After SWAC (School Within a College) and After Adult Dual Credit pilot activities Dual Credit Educator Forums Forums for classroom teachers to include information on how to better support students with Postsecondary Education (PSE) pathway planning. 2019-20 CODE Memo

Program Fidelity: Dual Credit Teacher Forums 29/04/2019 Program Fidelity: Dual Credit Teacher Forums Activity and Forum Monitoring reports indicate that, in some cases, Dual Credit Teacher forums do not include dual credit teachers and college faculty Need to reinforce policy and procedures with dual credit teachers and college faculty Need to provide time for collaboration It is expected that each RPT will deliver at least one forum: all dual credit teachers and college faculty receive orientation around dual credits, including roles and responsibilities, policies and procedures. college faculty and dual credit teachers discuss the content of the dual credit, students and supports. share successful practices in such areas as instruction, assessment and evaluation These are not intended to provide basic information on dual credits for school staff not involved in the delivery of the program. (p.2)

29/04/2019 Financial Responsibility: Activities and Forums Funding vs Participants EDCS data indicates there are some Activities and Forums that had far fewer than requested participants, but spent most or all of the approved funding In cases where the benchmark either generates too much or too little funding to run an activity or forum, RPTs are asked to detail their request in the Miscellaneous section of the online application rather than requesting benchmark funding. (p.2)
