Road infrastructure caters to transport Road infrastructure has been the fulcrum of Indian Economy The promotion of all weather, qualitative durable road network assures faster economic and social gains, integration of markets and trade flows India has one of the largest road networks in the World with about 47 lakh km road. Over 60 percent of the total goods 85 percent of the total percentage of the total passenger traffic Road infrastructure caters to transport

The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna(PMGSY) aims to provide the facility of all weather roads to all the villages by March 2019. Bhratmala Pariyojna is a new umbrella program for the highway sector. The project aimed at integrating many other schemes ,projects and programs to cover 25000 km of roads and bridges. Development of 7000km state road along coastal areas, border areas with special focus on connectivity of non –major ports, roads for backward areas, religious and tourist places Phase-I of the project is being implemented over a five year period of 2017-18 to 2021-22 with an estimated cost of Rs 5,35,000 crore .
