New Year’s Resolutions

What is a resolution? A resolution is a promise that you make to yourself. Most people make resolutions at the beginning of a new year. There are different kinds of resolutions. One type of resolution has to do only with oneself. You might decide to exercise more or to watch less TV. Other resolutions might involve family or friends. You could make a resolution to be more patient with your little brother. Some resolutions are about school such as going to school daily or not procrastinating.

Creating Your New Year’s Resolutions Directions: In your journal you will create six resolutions. In the first section, create two personal goals. In the second section, write two resolutions that involve your family and friends. In the third section, write two resolutions for this school year. *An example can be found on the next slide.

New Year’s Resolutions Personal Goals: Family and Friends: School: Work out twice a week for 30 minutes Spend more time helping my parents Join a club or sport Learn Spanish Help my little brother with his homework Maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher

Think-Pair-Share Look over your New Year’s Resolutions and pick two you would like to share. Pair up with a classmate and share the resolutions you selected.

Reflection In your journal write one paragraph about why your resolutions are important and how you will accomplish them.
