The New United Interstates AP Human Geography Political Organization of Space Unit

For today, 01/27 (1.) Make sure you know that you have a Vocab and Map Exam tomorrow. (2.) Check out the cartoon to the right – funny, eh! (3.) Go to Socrative, ROOM 262479 and begin. Guess, don’t look it up; it’s not for a grade

The New United Interstates (1.) Analyze the current existing pattern of U.S. state boundaries and identify 5 practical, reasonable changes. Reasons for restructuring state borders can include political geographic concerns, addressing economic and cultural differences, and consolidating lightly populated states. (a.) Download (“Save as”) and draw and label the new boundaries onto “MAP 1.” Screenshot the finished product. Use any app/program you want to draw. (b.) For EACH of the 5 changes, write a statement justifying/explaining your changes (2-4 sentences). (2.) Use a map of existing Interstates to identify gaps in the current system and identify 3 new Interstates and justify the need for their construction. (a.) Download (“Save as”) and draw the additions onto “MAP 2.” Screenshot the finished product. Use any app/program you want to draw. (b.) For EACH of the 3 additions, write a statement justifying/explaining your changes (2-4 sentences). (3.) The finished product will be a multimedia presentation (powerpoint, Prezi, ArcSoft, Moviemaker, etc.) shared with me from your Google account. It should have 10 separate things!
