Science Fiction (and) Writing Mr. Trosclair’s REC Club 2013-2014

What’s the difference between Science Fiction and Fantasy? No Elves and Dwarves (pretty much anything in The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings is out. No ‘magic’ (Harry Potter would also be Fantasy) Like reading stories that are fiction but similar to real life with people like you and drama? That’s out too! (Pretty Little Liars, etc) No werewolves, vampires, or zombies (The ‘If you mention Twilight, I’m putting you in the Shakespearean Recitation Club’ area) No mythology (The gods did it!) (Percy Jackson)

So, what is Science Fiction? (what comes to mind)

Construct a brief synopsis for a story involving all the elements we just listed. Write 1 paragraph (minimum) explaining what it is the story would be about (include the elements, a character, a very broad plot, and where it would take place)
