Drivers Education Guidelines ● Fee: $400 cash or money order to Little Elm High School (Your child must be 15 or turn 15 by January 15, 2018 to qualify). ● The program will offer a complete classroom and behind the wheel training. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to apply for their license. New state guidelines require parents to take their children out and log hours after our class is over. ● Enrollment is limited and will be on a first come-first serve basis. ● The classroom portion will begin on Monday, January 8 (3:05 pm). ● The classroom sessions will be Monday-Friday. We are hoping to have all classroom and drive time sessions completed by March 10. ● If your child misses classroom time they will have to make it up. I understand that sickness and other unforeseeable situations come up so I will overlook 2 absences (still have to be made up). After the 2nd absence a $25 fee will be assessed for each one. I have to use my time or get one of my assistants to make these times up with the kids. If a child misses 5 times they will be dismissed from the class and your $400 will be returned. This also goes for tardiness (I keep track of minutes they are late and have them make it up). ● A general driving schedule is as follows: We will not use any driving hours that conflict with the classroom times. We hope to start driving by January 17th. Drive time hours will be on a first come first served basis. Signing up for drive times will be the responsibility of the student. The hours for Saturday and Sunday will be from 8 am until 6 pm. Students will drive in pairs and will drive 1 or 2 times a week. Students will not be allowed to drive more than twice a week. Each student is required to drive 7 hours and observe for 7 hours. Please list below any dates or times between January 20th and March 10th that your child can’t drive due to conflicts. Economics/Driver’s Education ● Due to tight schedules, car rental expense and inconvenience a $25 fee will be added to anyone who does not give a 24-hour cancellation notice.
