Presentation transcript:

Science/Social Studies: T.C. Knapp Elementary Mr. Boggs’ 3rd Grade Class Week of March 23rd, 2015 Math: In math this week, the students will learn how to find elapsed time and how to add and subtract time amounts. Remind your child that it is important to understand that 1 hour = 60 minutes in order to convert time amounts when adding and subtracting. The students will have their test over Chapter 16 – Time on Friday, March 27. REMINDER: Although we are learning about time this week, students are still required to study their math facts each night for 15 minutes until all facts are mastered. This is a school-wide policy. Science/Social Studies: We will continue with our unit covering the concept of rocks. This week, we will reinforce the idea that rocks are made of minerals and determine the properties of several minerals. Dear Families, With our last week before spring break, we want all of our students to remain focused during school. Daily planners should be checked each day for homework assignments and special announcements. Thank you! Sincerely, Mr. Boggs Reading This week in reading, we will continue with the selection entitled, Technology Wins the Game. We will continue to focus on headings that begin sections of text with related information, photographs and captions, and graphics, such as diagrams, that help explain the topic. We will also continue to focus on sequence of events as well as text and graphic features. Lastly, we will reinforce the sound heard in joy. This will include the vowel diphthongs oy and oi. The students will have their test over this reading selection on Friday, March 27. Spelling A spelling list for Lesson 11 will was sent home last Monday. Please study these words with your child throughout the week. The students will have their test over these words on Friday, March 27.
