Identify and evaluate potential leaders 3_85 Identify and evaluate potential leaders Consider readiness and availability Start slowly Ask someone to help on a committee Help plan a single event Be part of a panel discussion See if there is anyone who has similar experience in other organizations

Establish clear expectations 3_85 Establish clear expectations As Chapter President, meet with your board frequently In person when possible One on ones Conference calls Review chapter vision at least annually during planning meeting Review roles and expectations individually and as a team Make sure your Immediate Past President has a role – they can be a key to your success

Provide mentoring Pair up your board with committee members 3_85 Provide mentoring Pair up your board with committee members Consider asking a board member rolling off to help on-board the new member taking on the role Seek advisors within the region from other chapters (ask the region team!)

Develop and recognize your leaders 3_85 Develop and recognize your leaders Give board members a chance to be seen and heard at your meetings Ask them to contribute to your newsletter Make sure to recognize them in attendance at your meetings Consider highlighting their name badge to identify them as board members Be sure to establish some budget to send leaders to the Region Leadership Conference!
