Religious Education How can artists help us to understand Christmas? Maths This half term the children will continue to explore addition and subtraction. They will then measure and calculate perimeters of shapes, converting measures when appropriate. Finally there will be a focus on multiplying and dividing by 6,7, 9, 10 and100. English Our first learning journey is based on the beautifully illustrated book ‘Leon and the place between’. The focus will be on descriptive writing. During the second unit the children will become immersed in ‘Until I met Dudley’ – the children will have an opportunity to write real and imaginary explanations. Character Curriculum This term we will be exploring the following virtues: courage and kindness. We will end our term by reflecting on all 5 virtues (caring, helpfulness, cooperation, courage and kindness) ,what we have done well and how we can improve for Term 2. Daily Mile The aim of The Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children. Children are physically active (run, jog or walk) for 15 mins a day. The children will be using their running skills in the Cross Country House event later this term. Year 4 Autumn Term 2 Topic: Take to the Rails – a trip around Europe Big Question: Where would I like to settle and why? Wow Start: Europe jigsaw Fantastic finish: Spanish Tapas cooking Topic We are heading off on our travels around Europe this half term. We will be studying French artists; the location of German football stadiums; the mountains in Italy and ending our journey in Spain where we will be sampling some Spanish cuisine and developing artistic skills linked to the artist Gaudi. STEM We shall be bringing music to your ears this half term! The children will be experimenting with vibrations, sound, pitch and volume and using all this knowledge to create musical instruments on our STEM day on 14th November – more details to follow. P.E In gymnastics, we will be focusing on creating sequences that involve travelling and balances Our scheme REAL PE focus is ‘Social – creating our personal best’
