Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to explore far away lands. Reporter-Our readers want to know how many expeditions did you make? Przhevalsky –Personally I have made 4 expeditions to east and central Asia Reporter- oh it’s very interesting. And…How much time of your life did you spend travelling? Przhevalsky about 11 years Reporter-What places did you visit? Przhevalsky-Well. On my first expedition I traveled from Irkutsk to central Siberia. I saw Lake Baikal, visited Urga, crossed Mongolia and the Gobi and into China. Reporter-Is it true that you covered quite a distance of the equator in all your expeditions?

In all my expeditions I covered a distance of 31000 kilometres Quite.a distance when you think that the equator-the circumference of the earth- a little over 40000km. Reporter- but…Were your expeditions only about traveling? Przhevalsky- of course not. I made maps of the places I visited, brought back new plants and discovered animals we had not seen before. Reporter-And what about a new horse? Przhevalsky-Yes… I discovered the camel, but it is the horse that made me famous. It is small, about size of a pony. Its coat is a red colour, but its mane and tail. are dark. It has a white nose, a long face and a very strong lower jaw. Reporter-And finally What did you think about your work? Przhevalsky-I hope that my expeditions have added to our knowledge of the geography of Asia.It is amazing that people are talking about naming a lake, a mountain, a glacier, animals and plants, even a city after me.
